The Sunflower League was represented in both the KSHSSA Class 5A and 6A State Championship football games. Gardner Edgerton advanced to the Class 6A State Championship and finished as the Runner Up and Mill Valley advanced to the Class 5A State Championship and won their 4th consecutive state title.
Mill Valley defeated Maize 28-14 to claim the 2022 Class 5A State Championship. They finished the season as Co Champions in the Sunflower League and with an overall record of 12-1. This season marked the 6th championship in 8 years for the Jaguars.
Gardner Edgerton fell to Manhattan in overtime of the Class 6A State Championship game. The final score was 20-21. The Trailblazers finished the 2022 season with a record of 9-4.
Congratulations to both Gardner Edgerton and Mill Valley for advancing to the State Championship games and representing the Sunflower League very well!
